Today’s students are under tremendous pressure to excel in their academic studies. Competition for entrance into the best universities and for crucial scholarships is higher than ever. Since you are here looking at my website, you are probably aware of these facts and are looking for the edge to catapult the student to the highest level of achievement.

Over the years I have tuned my teaching style to better give the students the understanding and skills they need to achieve their goals. By challenging the student to implement these skills in problem solving, the student is forced to exercise their analytical ability and thus greatly improve retention.

But problem solving is only part of the equation. Because of the time constraints placed on teachers in the traditional educational environment the testing format used is usually that of multiple “guess”. Personally, I abhor this format as it fails to test the student’s understanding of the material and it encourages guessing instead of problem solving. But this is the environment the student is in and there are skills that can be learned to improve their ability to achieve higher test scores.

By now, you can see why I call myself an “academic coach” as well as a tutor. I really enjoy working with teenagers and young adults. Nothing gives me the pleasure like the smiles I get from my students when they tell me about the “A” they achieved on their last examination.
